Teachers for Europe

The project “Teachers4Europe: setting an Agora for Democratic Culture” (T4E) will be using education as the vehicle for the promotion of principles and values comprising the EU democratic culture, which can contribute to better appreciation of the EU as an entity that works at many different levels in favour of all people, irrespective of their identity; the Teachers 4 Europe (T4E) will act as inspiring social and cultural agent that will spread the European values to colleagues, young people and the society.

Moreover, they will foster a dialogue with and among relevant stakeholders on a social and policy level and will contribute towards realising synergies and improving the quality of training and learning through knowledge about Europe and its values, especially in the field of Democratic Culture.

T4E will be evolved as a European learning network involving additional schools, teachers, policy representatives and community stakeholders that will be committed to act in favor of EU values. In this way, not only the teachers’ role will be upgraded but also inclusive and democratic learning environments will be established.

The project will further exploit, expand and scale up the Teachers 4 Europe network (T4E) which has proven quite effective at national and local level implementing successful projects about EU in Greece since 2011. The emerging T4E transnational network will act as inspiring social and cultural incubator that will foster the dialogue with and among relevant stakeholders on a social and policy level; in addition, T4E will contribute towards realising synergies and improving the quality of training and learning about Europe, its values, and its Democratic Culture.

Our College is one of the partners in this project and we believe that European Values are universal values that we need to continue to nurture in all that we do. For this reason we believe that these values do not need to be taught specifically but need to be acquired through our day-to-day experiences in schools and in the community. We believe that it will not be beneficial to add to the subjects that we teach our children and youngsters but that instead, we nurture the knowledge of the European Values through other subjects and project-based teaching as well as through the examples we set by our attitudes and actions.

The partners in this project feature Universities, Teacher-Training Institutions, Companies and NGOs from different European Countries, you can find their details here.
