New Visual and Performing Arts Secondary School

The Ministry for Education and Employment wishes to announce the opening of The Malta Visual and Performing Arts Secondary School, at the ex-Tas-Samra School premises, Ħamrun. The school will open in September 2017 with Year 7 (Form 1) students. This will be a school of excellence for students who wish to excel in any of the five forms of arts: Music, Drama, Art, Dance and Media Studies.

The criteria for the selection of students for the school will be primarily based upon excellence in one of the art forms. Auditions, portfolios and interviews will be used as tools for the selection of 10 students in Drama, Art, Music and Dance respectively and 8 students for Media Studies.

An information meeting for parents of students in St Margaret College will be held on 24 May 2017 at 18:00 at St Benedict College Secondary School, Kirkop.
